Is your lack of language skills stopping you from moving ahead in your international business development? Are you persuaded you will need a fortune just to break through language barriers? The solution might be right under your nose.
Standard Translation Is Getting Good
The free online translation tools now easily available are good enough to help you get you started. Do you use Google at all? If so one of these free translation tools is probably staring at you right in the face. On the Google home page just replace the www with “translate” and you will be on the translation page.
Translation software has improved greatly since its beginning. And it is destined to get better and better. The sheer volume of online content requiring translation will lead further development in this industry. Most of the free online translation tools are also very good.
Why Use Free Translation Tools
There are two main reasons behind the success of the free online translation tools.
1. Translators simply cannot keep up with the task at hand. Translations take time. Free online tools are almost instantaneous.
2. Most companies are reticent to spend money on having all of their content translated. Standard industry practice for translators is to charge by the word. In many cases the translation budget can be staggering.
Online translation tools are great because they eliminate or drastically reduce translation costs and give your translations almost immediately.
How To Use Free Translation Tools
If you have never ventured into foreign language territory online, the easiest way is through Google. Google currently supports 100 languages and 30 different translation combinations.
Use the advanced search option in the Google search menu to identify your foreign websites. You can even use the free Google translation tool. Google is not the leading search engine in all foreign countries. But it is a good place to start.
The best way to see how comfortable you are with the level of translation is to search on a subject you are familiar with, do the translation and read through. There will probably be bits that are garbled. This happens when certain slang terms or specific jargon are used. But you will probably be able to get a very good understanding of the text.
Ways To Use Free Translation Tools
Here are some ways you can safely use today’s free online translation tools to help you in your business:
Be aware that there might be errors. Communication errors are not only specific to translation software. Communication errors are an inherent risk of all multicultural communication. As you develop your “international mindset” you will anticipate these errors more and more. You will learn to verify and cross-reference your understanding when in doubt.
When You Should Avoid Free Online Translation Tools
Remember there are countless blunders in cross cultural communication. The free online translation tools can be of great assistance to businesses targeting international markets…if used with common sense.
Here are a few times you should not use them:
Do not feel pressured to translate everything you have into the foreign language. Start with a single web page in the foreign language and some sales copy. You will need to steadily create foreign language communication if you want to generate a lot of foreign leads.
In international business today you will come across translations assisted by computer software. The translations may be 100% generated by machine. Or used by professional translators to help them work faster.
Use the free online translation tools under your nose with a drop of care and you will find them a valuable tool to help you daily in developing your international business.

Businesses in general experience a wealth of issues that impact their ability to conduct business and remain successful. This is even more so the case with international business. Forces external to the company can decide whether a business is successful or fails and in particular, financial and political forces have some of the greatest impacts on today’s organizations. The intent of this paper is to discuss these forces and show specific examples of what many industries can experience when operating on a global scale.
Typically businesses ride a financial rollercoaster when conducting business internationally. Currency has become one of the biggest financial hurdles to overcome when operating overseas. While this type of external force is considered uncontrollable, there are ways that businesses can mitigate negative financial hardship.
Fluctuating currency values can have both a positive and negative effect on organizations and it is crucial that financial managers plan for both. Establishing currency contracts with banks can help protect a corporation when the Yen value drops significantly and Asian business could be affected. It is important to be continually aware of exchange rates and have the ability to implement financial safety vehicles should a problem loom on the horizon.
While a certain amount of risk is involved with fluctuating exchange rates, governments of the regions in which a company may operate have the potential to implement currency exchange controls which can have an equally devastating result. By restricting the use of a particular currency for international transactions, governments ultimately overvalue that currency compared to the open market, making it extraordinarily difficult to transact business economically.
Another financial force affecting businesses is a country’s balance of payments (BOP). Should the country’s BOP slide into deficit, this could be a result of inflation, causing that country’s government to take action in several ways to overcome this BOP deficit. To encourage deflation, the administration may implement currency devaluation practices or other monetary policies intent on controlling the BOP. To counter this practice, an organization may consider seeking export incentives to provide relief.
Another area of great financial importance is taxation. When determining where to pursue business overseas, taxes can be very cost prohibitive, even when other financial, social and political forces are to their advantage. Skillfully negotiating a lower tax burden can be the difference in having the ability to offer a lower product price than ones competitor or not and should therefore be carefully considered.
The political forces affecting global businesses are ever-present and come in many forms. Ideological forces such as communism, socialism and capitalism play considerable roles in how well a business operates and must be considered when venturing into international commerce. Ideals such as communism and socialism make for difficult situations when pursuing free trade making expanding businesses opportunities in that region a difficult task.
While the basis of capitalism is free enterprise, it should not be construed as an perfectly harmonious environment in which to operate. Government maintains several areas in which it may control business through taxes, wages, employment conditions, safety, pollution, zoning and other areas.
Typically, it is assumed that socialist and communist countries are the only ones in which the government owns businesses but nationalization of business is farther reaching than where these systems exist. The practice of nationalization of business can be to support companies that provide necessary but not profitable goods and services for the country but also use the business to funnel more funds into government itself.
From a positive aspect, protection of business by government such as in the areas of farming and mining can positively affect business in general. The farming industry as a whole may experience financial difficulties but it may be necessary for the government to provide protection or assistance for the good of the nation.
Politically, terrorism remains in the forefront of the minds of many managers. Businesses operating internationally are particularly susceptible to terrorist threats and attacks and must incorporate their protective measures into their daily business plans. Companies can be subject to acts such as kidnapping of corporate executives for ransom or the bombing of contracted construction sites intended to cripple the government. It is imperative for businesses to not only be aware but be prepared with countermeasures intended to thwart the attempts of terrorists as well as a means of helping the company recover from an attack.
Other political forces affecting global businesses are the governments themselves and their ability to maintain a stable environment. Every country may deal with the unexpected happenings of fiscal or monetary changes, but governments that can maintain relatively stable during these changes are ideal. When the political environment of a country is in flux, this can also impact the businesses importing to, exporting from or operating in that country. Should that country be in the midst of hostile actions toward other nations, businesses can certainly suffer.
In the US and Europe, labor unions are a political force that can have great impact on operations. American labor unions have strong political ties and are quite active in the political arena. Their influence can affect many types of legislative decisions that will ultimately affect a company’s ability to conduct business. Strikes or poorly negotiated labor agreements can allow the union to force businesses into decisions that may ultimately lead to their own demise.
Here we’ve seen examples of financial and political forces affecting international business but have universality regardless of region. Financially, currency rates have an impact on business whether a company operates abroad or not. With businesses being interconnected the way they are, the yen rate and the euro rate will both influence how large and small business alike can function. Inflation and BOP play a very large part in how we do business overall regardless of where in the world we are located and it is a very important factor when making business decisions. Politically, governmental control, social ideals like communism and stability of the current regime can dictate whether Starbuck will open stores in Nepal or Nice, Frankfurt or France. The choices governments make to nationalize or privatize can even determine the fate of McDonalds. That being the case, every business operating at an international level must assess its risk in that country before making a commitment. Understanding the economic, social and political nature of a country will be key to that business’ future.

In a recent White Paper “Making Globalisation a Force for Good” the DTI gives a special mention to the importance of using languages in international business. Essentially it is referring to the need for effective communication with foreign trading partners to get your message across, hit the mark in promoting your products and build successful relationships. These things are crucial for international success and will probably require you to use the language of your customers.
Of course, it’s a great idea to learn some of your customer’s language because it shows your respect for them and helps you to get closer to their thinking. Moreover, if you are fluent in their language and can even write it well then you have a huge advantage in your business dealings. For informal situations, routine exchanges between existing partners you don’t need to be a professional linguist.
But beware foreign language ability is not the same as the specialist skill required for translating promotional literature or technical documents. Anything critical in its presentation (e.g. sales literature) or its accuracy (e.g. machine operating instructions) must to be translated professionally. Translation is a highly skilled activity performed by specialists. Even a native speaker is not qualified to this work for you. Don’t be tempted to use a short cut. “DIY” translation may save you a few pounds now but it could prove to be very costly later. And, for all the skill involved, professional translation is not costly.
Translations are always made into the target language (your customer’s language) by someone who is a suitably qualified and experienced native speaker of that language. Most translators have postgraduate qualifications in translation. Most of them belong to a professional body such as the Institute of Linguists (IoL) or Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), whose members are largely freelance individuals. Both of these organisations have professional membership criteria.
The process of translation is more of a craft than a science since words in different languages very rarely correspond exactly in their meaning. What is more, translators will often disagree on the best ways to translate a document, particularly when it comes to matters of style. Even the smallest translation can involve fine judgements based on years of experience. That is the level of expertise you need to achieve a properly executed translation which is not going to let you down.
In the case of sales or promotional literature aimed at an overseas market localisation may be necessary whereby the text, graphics and illustrations are adapted culturally to suit the target country. Ideally you should get the final draft of your translation checked by an educated person you know in the target market who can check if the specialist terms are correct and whether the translated document will make the desired impression in their country.
There is a lot of interest these days in software used for translation, often referred to as Machine Translation or MT. It is used by large international institutions like the EU and UN to produce bulk translations of official documents which translators then have to tidy up. Similar facilities are available on-line where you enter source text and translation into the chosen target language comes back. Happily for translators, humans are still needed to make sense of the raw (often nonsensical) translation which comes out. For the present at least, subtle issues of context, register, emphasis and purpose – essential for accurate translation – are beyond the grasp of artificial intelligence.
So, the practical benefits of using professional translation in your international business are clear. But good translation communicates other messages too. Showing customers your commitment by presenting your company and products in their language will make a lasting impression on them.
By demonstrating your appreciation of a customer’s language and culture, you set yourselves apart from the crowd. By communicating properly in international markets, you appear as enlightened players with a global outlook, with whom others will want to do business. Professional translations will help you to promote your global presence and boost your international business.

Before the current global economy came to the forefront of public awareness, those of us already conducting business overseas were busy forming the basics of what would eventually become an educational field of study. We came from various backgrounds and industries, making our way through the highly regulated world of international trade. From Atlanta to Zurich, Chicago to Calgary, Bonn to Budapest and all points in between, we built on the foreign trade infrastructure which for years had languished under the tight regulatory control of less than accommodating bureaucracies.
Thankfully, the international business graduates of today needn’t encounter the same uphill battles as the foundation has already been set in place. Those with the proper educational background can take their claim in the exciting and lucrative world of international business with the skills and knowledge at their disposal to find a niche and succeed. Of course, I’m speaking of the comprehensive international business undergraduate programs offered in America’s universities, targeted learning opportunities that weren’t available when I and those like me were playing it by ear through trial and a substantial amount of error. Today, almost every operating university with a business department offers an international business degree, and the international markets are better for it.
Along with all the benefits that a liberal arts education offers, international business degree programs provide specialized curriculum on far ranging topics from government enforced trade and customs regulations to the idiosyncrasies of the social conduct and acumen in different cultures. Those who graduate from an international business degree program do so much more well equipped to conduct operations successfully around the globe. They gain a firm understanding of what it takes to facilitate business through the ability to navigate the choppy waters of international supply and demand.
While I wouldn’t trade the experiences I had overseas for anything, there were many lost opportunities and less than stellar results that could have been avoided had international business been standardized to the degree it is today. Thankfully for those now entering the field, there’s no need for a businessman starting an international career or expanding an existing business overseas to reinvent the wheel. As fast as norms change, the world of academia alters and responds. Some of the most cutting edge theories and practices on international business come from universities – veritable think tanks that capitalize on the presence of students, professors, and supporting businesses alike. The opportunity to take what pioneers like myself discovered and expand on it is here. Educate yourself, and the world is at your doorstep.

Why Choose Indian Export Import Data for International Business?
Although a lot of people may not be aware of the various product lines that India is involved in as far as the export and import of tangible goods is concerned, there is more to the credit of India than it actually appears. There are in fact plenty of Indian export import data banks available on World Wide Web to get trading partners with no trouble.

Certainly, plethora of vendors prefer India exporters as their main trading partners since there is low-cost employment accessible as well as ample of goods to choose from.
Large and Small Retail Businesses: If you are a retail business that requires discovering goods to trade, Indian exporters have factually wide gamut of goods to offer. There are India exporters who specialize in a whole lot of product lines, right from baby items all the way to toys, furniture and hand tools. When a company outside of India takes a decision that they need to locate an innovative product line or to look for cheaper source of obtaining goods for their clients, these firms will often look towards India for finding the companies that are capable of manufacturing the goods that they desire. On the other hand, this sort of work of production can often be contracted out to Indian exporters for a small cost, if preferred.
Getting Products for Low Cost: One more reason why exporters from India are preferred is that they are often so much cheaper than having the goods produced in one’s own country. For instance, US vendors often prefer to import goods from Indian exporters just because they can amplify their profit margins while giving the business to exporting firms as well! In addition, the items that can be obtained from India are generally of the same or nearly the same quality as those wholesalers situated right in the US.
Importing goods from India is also beneficial to the ultimate customers as well. Since retailers are paying a lesser cost for the items they trade in, those cost benefits can be passed along to the customer! In real meaning, Importing from India is a win-win situation for everybody: the India exporter gets the business, the retailer profits, and the customer benefits by way of lower product cost.
Although there are a few who recommend not to Import goods from India because of the “risks” that evidently exist, a lot of individuals, businesses and foreign buyers importing from India have found that the dealings go easily and the goods that are bought and sold are of superior quality as well!
In general, India’s exporters enjoy a good market share of the several products that are exported and imported to numerous parts across the globe. The USA holds a big part of the retailers and business proprietors that conduct business with exporters from India on a normal basis. But there are ample of other countries across the globe that execute trading deals and transact with Indian exporters as well. India has emerged as a preferred player to export low-cost, good quality products to various retailers, businesses, and customers.

Internal African business market is still on the edge against exports. The market is still on the process of business modeling. It is yet to define what steps should be taken in order for them to boost the national economy. It may be raining international trades and investments, with most African countries focusing on it, but in domestic investment’s case, they are lacking. Although foreign business are very important, we can’t disregard the role of interior business, especially those that can enhance and preserve the richness of Africa’s environment. The domestic business and products in Africa have big potentials. Travelling is one of the best ways for businesses to make new contacts and drum up new deals so it’s little surprise that so many companies make sure they do it frequently. However, business travel doesn’t come cheap – especially when it involves international trips. When employees are expected to stay away from home to attend the offices of their contemporaries and counterparts, the costs can soon rack up. From air fares to accommodation and even expense accounts for essentials such as food and drink, a trip to an office in another country can be a big drain on finances.
While it’s unlikely that it will be possible for many companies to cut out international travel completely, there are a number of ways that costs can be drastically reduced. Careful planning is one of the biggest ways in which companies can save money, but it does necessitate an initial time investment. This might mean implementing a new booking system or it many merely mean asking employees to source the cheapest flights and accommodation possible for themselves for every trip.
It’s also vital to try and plan ahead as much as possible, because flights and accommodation can often be found at far more reasonable prices when booked ahead. If you have to leave your booking until the last minute, there’s quite a good chance you’ll end up paying over the odds. The other money saving tip that needs to be thought about in advance is area research. By spending a little time researching a country and its regions online, you can get a good idea about which areas are notorious for being the most expensive and which are best suited for business and not leisure travellers.
This also gives you a chance to make sure that you’re not accidentally false-economising – for example, accidentally book a hotel so far from the office you’ll be visiting, that commuting costs soon spiral and end up making the trip more expensive than it would have been in a closer hotel.
Another handy way to cut the cost of international business travel is to make sure you use cheap services to make all of your international calls. Whether in the planning stage or once you’re already abroad and reporting back to your colleagues, this can be a huge money saver for businesses and helps take the pressure off long distance calls. With advances in technology such as video calls now widely available, it’s easy to both see and hear what people are up to. By thinking smart about the things that make international travel easier, you’re sure to have happier staff as well as a healthier budget.

Reliv International came into existence in 1988 with a vision to Nourish the world. The founders Robert and Sandy Montgomery wanted to give not only high quality nutrition but also a business opportunity that would help people financially. Their products high quality cam from a close friendship with well known micro biologist Dr. Theodore Kalogris. Through the Doctors research a product line was started that provides a full days nutrition in a highly absorbable form.Reliv International Product LineReliv International is one of the now many companies that offer nutritional products. The three Reliv product lines are basic nutrition, weight control and a targeted solutions line. The first line is the basics like vitamins and minerals. This foundation nutrition product is called Reliv Classic and Now. The weight control line is called simplicity and utilizes new advances in dietary knowledge to focus on making a quality diet product line with dietary pills, shakes, appetite suppressants and a planner. The targeted product lines address specific health concerns like digestive health, blood sugar, energy, joint, heart, women’s and even children’s health. These product lines can be added to the base nutrition products for increased focus on specific health problems or simply for prevention. The Business Opportunity and CompensationThe Reliv International business is a part of the MLM industry which offers people a work from home opportunity. To begin with Reliv you must first apply for $39.95. Once you are a distributor you can buy Reliv products at a 20%-40% discount depending on what level your at in the company, and sell them at retail. You also get paid a percentage difference on products sold by people in your organization. An example of this would be if you were at a 40% level and a distributor below you was at a 25% level, you would make the extra 15% difference every time he sells a product until he is at the same 40% level as you. Once they are at the same level as you they, along with their group of distributors, breaks away from you. At this point you will make 8% on the groups first level, 6% on the 2nd, 4% on the 3rd, 3% on the 4th and 2% on the 5th.ConclusionSo, is Reliv International a scam. Obviously not, but you have to decide if you want to promote products to your family and friends hoping they will buy, attend and promote hotel meetings and hold home product presentations to try and sell and move your product.A person who really believes in the product line may do well with Reliv but you must realize an industry fact that an average of 90% or more of distributors will drop out of an MLM business. Since your real income stream comes from the percentage of money earned off of your distributors sales, it is usually very difficult to make a significant income when distributors continually drop out of your organization. Also, once your contact of list of family and friends is exausted, where do you get new leads to continue building your organization. So, make sure you have a way of producing quality leads that are interested in what you have to offer wether it be traditional advertising or online marketing methods. This marketing and lead generating will be essential to continued growth for your business.
